We are very happy that you want to learn about our school community, and are anxious to share with you information about Howell Road Elementary School.

Howell Road is a K-6 building with 600 students and 83 staff members. It offers a comprehensive educational program that supports students at all points in the educational continuum, including pupils with diverse educational, cultural and linguistic experiences. It is also the site of a wireless network in grades 5 and 6, wherein students can access the world-wide web from their classrooms.

We have a very involved Parent Teacher Association and use volunteers in programs such as seniors as reading partners. Our school works collaboratively with the larger community to sponsor a "Healthy Heart" program with Franklin Hospital Medical Center. It is a very important component of our school and is integrated into everything we do instructionally.

The student council at Howell Road meets regularly with the principal. Members do a lot of community service and give input from their classrooms to help with school decision-making.

Our school community is invested in developing and enriching our building program to achieve a united, responsible and respectful learning environment for students. We continue to direct our efforts to assist each student to attain the following:
- Feel safe and comfortable
- Do one's best
- Be actively engaged in learning
- Respect the opinions and feelings of others
- Being treated fairly
- Care for our school
- Accept responsibility for personal action.

The Howell Road school community is dedicated to the success of all students. The staff and parents work together to ensure the academic, social and emotional well-being of all our students.

High expectations for academic excellence, coupled with opportunities in the arts, athletics, and special areas encourage students to explore areas of interest and to achieve their best.
