Dear Residents,
On behalf of the Board of Education and district administration it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2009-2010 school year! I hope you enjoyed your summer and are ready to start a new year together.
Over the past several years our district has earned a reputation for educational excellence. Each year a countless number of our students, faculty, and staff participate in a wide range of academic, philanthropic, and community-service initiatives – each of which brings great pride to our schools and community.
Looking to build upon this rich tradition, I anticipate that the 2009-2010 school year will bring even greater opportunities for our students to succeed and achieve both in and outside of the classroom. Following our philosophy of educating the whole child and, with the help of our dedicated administration, faculty, and community volunteers, we will continue to provide the necessary tools for our children to excel in the classroom and culturally through community-based events.
In addition to our strong focus on providing a quality educational program, the Board of Education and administration are mindful of their commitment to the community to be fiscally responsible and believe the budgetary process is one that takes place year-round. With a commitment to operating in an efficient manor, we will continue to monitor all areas of spending with the goal of containing costs and looking for opportunities to do more with less.
I invite all residents and community members to stay informed of district matters, upcoming events, and coverage of school functions by frequenting this website. Our site is updated regularly and contains a wealth of information about District Thirteen. I hope that you will check back often.
As always, I thank you for your continued support. The members of the Board of Education and administrative team join me in wishing every success to our students, their families, and the community during the upcoming school year.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Lison Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
