Dear Parents, Students, and Community Members:

As the new school year begins, I look forward to working with the district’s talented and committed Board of Education, Dr. Elizabeth Lison, administators, teachers, staff, and parents in continuing to provide an environment that fosters academic, social and emotional growth.

The focus of a fine school district should be on learning. Yet we all know that students’ learning happens best when our teachers are empowered with the tools they need to most effectively help children learn. My role is to listen, discover, and reflect the instructional needs of staff by providing strong leadership and support to our teachers and our entire school community. I will foster an environment that is results-oriented. Yet, while I recognize that learning and achievement must be a top priority, we are, after all, a vital and thriving school community. Students need opportunities to grow and develop socially and emotionally. Our schools are lively and thriving places, and so I anticipate spending as much time as possible visiting and meeting with staff, students, and parents. I will be actively involved in providing opportunities for the educational community to reflect on current practice. I look forward to working with the educational team in Valley Stream Thirteen to do whatever is best to enhance all of the experiences of our children.

We are a school community. Parents play a vital role in the education of their children. I will continue to work toward building meaningful partnerships between parents and schools. Parents and staff, working together, know best what is needed for the continued vitality of their schools and the success and happiness of their children. I hope to be involved and instrumental in contributing toward the success of our schools’ goals and district’s vision.

The strong support of our staff and community make it possible for Valley Stream Thirteen to remain a school district devoted to excellence in teaching and learning. I look forward to watching our children achieve, learn and grow. My door is always open and I welcome your input. We all share a common goal – providing the best education possible for our children.
