“Fantastic Felines”

2 nd Grade Willow Road students studied the work of artist Laurel Burch. Burch is best known for her whimsical, colorful cat pictures. Students learned how to draw a cat, and used pattern throughout the picture to create interest. This project involved a variety of materials, including markers, watercolor paints, oil pastels, and most importantly, Glitter Glue!

In Howell Road School, our second grade classes learned all about Pablo Picasso. We studied his artwork and learned about his life. The students made gorgeous colored paper collages based on one of Picasso’s most famous works of art.

Autumn Silhouettes
James A. Dever second graders used space as a tool to create these interesting silhouettes.
Positive space is space taken up by an object, such as the trees. Negative space is the space in between positive shapes.

These Ships in a bottle were made by second grade children at Wheeler.  Look closely and you can see Captain Columbus and some of the surrounding sea life.
