“Leaf Prints”

Willow Road fifth graders continued their exploration of printmaking as they created these wonderful prints.  Students drew a leaf of their choice, and then transferred their drawing to a piece of linoleum.  They then carved away the negative space, revealing only the leaf.  The linoleum was then printed repeatedly on then papers, using a pleasing color scheme.  As a final touch students embellished their prints with colored pencils.

“Expressive Self-Portraits”
James A. Dever fifth graders created these self-portraits after studying Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Each artist learned the rules of facial proportion and how to mix paint to match their skin tone. In each self-portrait you can find five facts about the artist. Which artist plays the violin?

The fifth grade at Howell Road learned all about Cubism.  Using craypas and India ink, we made our “cubest style” faces.

These landscape paintings were made by fifth grade students at the Wheeler Avenue School.  They were painted in the Impressionist style like Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh.
