Third grade students at Willow Road were introduced to figure drawing, using an artist mannequin as a drawing tool. Students broke the figure down into basic shapes for each body part. The background was created using tissue paper glued to paper. Students then created their figures in mannequin style as silhouettes.
Primary Color Creatures
After learning about primary colors, Mrs. Van Eron’s class at Willow Road painted beans in red, yellow and blue. Next they colored, cut and pasted animal outlines onto mat board. To complete their project, they glued their painted beans onto their animal.
Third grade students at Howell Road School learned all about weaving. Using colored paper, we weaved paper strips into our cats, and then created backgrounds for our animals.
The third grade children at the Wheeler Avenue School painted these winter pictures depicting some winter scenarios.
“Mexican Molas”
James A. Dever third graders created these colorful Molas in the tradition of Central American Kuna Indians. Each Mola was created by layering paper and cutting a border. Vibrating colors and warm and cool color combinations were explored.
