“Tree Silhouettes”
Willow Road second graders learned how to make a tree utilizing the letter “Y” as the foundation for their branches.  Students printed a variety of leaves as their background and then painted their tress as a silhouette.  As a final touch students used oil pastels to create a pattern to frame their work.

“In a corner of my room…”
James A. Dever second graders created these telling self-portraits after studying Vincent van Gogh's  painting, "Bedroom In Arles". After each student drew themselves from behind, they learned to draw their room in simple perspective. Lastly, we took digital pictures to which became their 'reflection' in the mirror.

Second grade students at Howell Road read the book “ Swimmy “ by Leo Leonni.  We made our beautiful under-water pictures using crayons, watercolors, and foil paper.
