Person whom I selected: Amelia Mary Earhart
Student name: Samantha J
Why I chose this person:
I chose this person because when I read her book I thought I could get a lot of information on her and because I don’t think women would have the rights we do today.
Why are they important to you and others? :
She is important to me and others because she changed the world by almost being the first person to go around the world by an airplane. Also I think she is awesome and that she was really
Childhood:
She was born on July second 1937 and she was born in Kansas. When she was ten years old Amelia saw her first plane, she was not impressed. She thought it looked old and rusty. Years later she went to an airplane show….. almost ten YEARS later was when she was interested. Her school years were not to great she went to 6 different high schools and she still graduated on time.
Adulthood:
When she got older she wanted to learn how to fly so she went to a collage that taught her how to fly an airplane. After years of collage her parents bought an airplane for her. That’s when she went up in a plane with Charles Lindbergh. She also was the first women to fly from Hawaii to California. She got married on February seventh 1931 she died July second 1937. She was best friends with Eleanor Roosevelt. Eleanor wanted to learn how to fly so Amelia taught her to. Eleanor got her permit.
Contributions to the world:
She was the first person to go almost around the world by airplane and she was the first women to fly across the Atlantic Ocean also she proved that women could do what men could do.
How did learning about this person make you feel:
Reading about this person made me feel like I wanted to be there with her supporting her. It made me want to learn a little about planes and how they work and how it was possible to die while flying a plane unless you run out of fuel.
Would you recommend learning about this person to someone because:
I recommend this person to a person because I think that she is so interesting and what she has done is amazing. And I don’t really think that anyone else would do something as special as what she did. She proved that women could do just as much as men…. maybe even better. I like that she was daring like when she flew solo across the Atlantic Ocean even though I wouldn’t do it I still like that she was daring.
