Why I chose this person?
I chose this Abraham Lincoln because, he interests me, I know about his back round, he was an United States President during the Civil War, he made good choices during his as President, he was an important person as his time as president, and he inspired me. This is why I chose Abraham Lincoln.
Why are they important to you and others?
Abraham Lincoln is important to me because, he was an United Sates President, he made good choices for the Civil War. For example he chose when to attack and when to attack. Also he had a lot of experience with congress and he held our country together. He is important to others because, in the Civil War he held the country together, he was a president, and he made good laws and choices as President.
Childhood.
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in a log cabin (Down below) in Hardin County, Kentucky. His father was Thomas Lincoln. His mother was Nancy Lincoln. His mother died when he was only 9! His dad then married a woman named Sara Johnson. They moved Spencer Country, then to New Salem in 1830.In Abe’s spare time he would read books, study, or play. But he would mostly read. Abraham wasn’t always friendly, he sometimes had street fights!
Adulthood Facts
In Abe’s life he had four children (Todd Lincoln, Edward Lincoln, William Lincoln,
and Thomas “Tad” Lincoln). He was married to Nancy Lincoln (March 1, 1837) and Marry
Todd (November 4, 1842). Lincoln was president of the United States twice. On Abe’s
first term the Civil War started on, April 12, 1861. On April 14, 1865(Good Friday),
John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham. Lincoln died early the next morning (April 15, 1865).
For everything Abe did there is a monument for him in Washington D.C. Abe failed
many jobs such as, a business man, shopkeeper, farmer, political office, and running
for U.S. senate. Abraham was the tallest president (6 ft. 4 in). When Abe died some
people tried to steal Abe’s body. They were offering 200,000 dollars to return the
body, but they couldn’t get the body out of the casket.
Contributions to the World
Some of the contributions Abe did for the country were, ending the Civil War, being
a house representative of the house(once), ended a big part of slavery life, held
our country together, won the civil war(saving the union), was a president of the
United States twice, and was the Illinois representative twice. For all of this he
has a monument and his face is in mt. Rushmore.
How did learning about Abe
Help you and how did it make you feel
Learning about Abraham Lincoln helped me learn more about a very important person in history and I now know more about the past. When I was learning about, him in my imagination I felt like I was back in time with him and doing what Abe was doing. When I was doing this I thought being a president is a very tough job and there are many challenges as being the president of the United States.
Would you recommend Abraham Lincoln to somebody else?
Yes, I would recommend Abe to somebody else. I think this because, during the Civil War he held our country together, and if he didn’t we would be two separate countries. I think Abraham Lincoln is, brave, smart, kind, and one of the best presidents the country had. This is why I chose Abraham Lincoln and why I would recommend him to anybody else if they needed to do a report on somebody important in our history.
