Person whom you have selected: Thomas Alva Edison

WHY I CHOSE THIS PERSON?

     I chose Thomas Alva Edison because I think I’ll have a lot to write about him. He invented many different things like the telephone and the light bulb. There is many things he invented that I will have a lot to write about them.

 

                      

WHY THEY ARE IMPORTANT TO YOU AND OTHERS?

    He is important to me and others because when he invented the telephone it made it that people can communicate even if they weren’t next to each other. Also the light bulb helped us by making us see in the dark.

 

 

CHILDHOOD

    Thomas Alva Edison was born in the eldest of seven children in Milan, Ohio. His parents, Samuel Ogden Edison, Jr. and Nancy Matthews Edison Nee Elliot came from a Dutch back round. After three years of official school, he was then home schooled by his mother. He soon became deaf after getting scarlet fever. He read lots of books that made him smarter such as R.G Parkers School of Natural Philosophy.

 

 

 

ADULTHOOD

    At age 24, Edison married 16 year old Mary Stilwell and had 3 children, Marion, Thomas and William. After Mary died in 1884, Thomas Edison married Mina Miller she was 20 years old. They had 3 more children, Madeline, Charles and Theodore. Thomas Edison invented the phonograph which played recorded sound. He then opened Menlo, Park in New Jersey, which was the first industrial research lab. Edison also invented the first electric light bulb; he also invented the telephone and made the telegraph work better.

 

 

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WORLD

     Thomas Edison “light bulb” changed lives forever. Where years ago, candles were changed to light bulbs, and today light bulbs are found in everything form the ceiling to the microwave. Places such as Edison, NJ and the Thomas Edison state collage were named after him. Companies, museums, and awards are in Edison’s name.

 

 

HOW DID LEARNING ABOUT TIS PERON HELP YOU AND HOW DID IT MAKE YOU FEEL

    Thomas Edison proved to be one of the smartest people in history I have ever learned about. He invented the telephone, some thing I use every day. Also, without the light bulb everything I would be in the dark or with candles. All of Edison’s inventions made me appreciate all that he has done for the world. Because of his hard work we have all these great things today.

 

 

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND LEARNING ABOUT THIS PERSON TO SOMEONE ELSE AND WHY

    I would tell everyone to go and learn about Thomas Edison. He was such a big part of everything the world has today. Also, it is good for people to know were things we use every day come from.
