ADELIE PENGUIN

Adelie penguins live on the coast of Antarctica. They are about 28 inches 70 cm tall and weigh about 8 to 9 lbs.

Females lay 2 egg in the nest.

Adelie penguins are the smallest of the penguins living on the Antarctic continent.

African penguin

The African penguin sometimes is called the Blackfoot penguin. It is found off the coast of southern Africa. Penguins are birds but they can’t fly but they can swim very well. And in years when there is plenty of food both chicks will survive.

Chinstrap Penguins  

Chinstrap      penguins     come   from  Antarctica. They grow to72cm  which   is    about   28   inches   tall. They  eat fish   and  krill.  Chinstrap   penguins get   their  name from   the line of   black   feathers    under  their  chin.  They often   live   on   icebergs.   They   are  the  boldest    penguins.    They   fight  with  other    penguins.  By C. Emperor Penguins

Emperor penguins live in Antarctica.
Emperor penguins are the largest kinds of penguins. They can be four feet tall and weigh 70 to 90 pounds. The female lays one egg. The male emperor takes care of the egg.

Erect-crested Penguins

Erect-crested penguins come from New Zealand.
Colonies located close to colonies of Rockhoppers. The erect-crested is 26 inches. It weighs 8 to 10 pounds. It lives in sub-Antarctic. Erect-crested eat a variety of fish and squid. It is thought there are 200,000 breeding pairs of erect-crested penguins. Their nest are shallow holes in the ground which they line with plant material if available.

Fairy Penguins

Fairy penguins  are the  smallest kinds of penguins .     They are  some   times called Little Blue because  of their blue color and their small size. Fairy penguins are 16 inches tall. They weigh about 2 pounds.    They live  in Australia and       New Zealand.

FIORDLAND PENGUIN

Fiordland penguins are a crested penguin. Like all crested penguins, the Fiordland penguin have a long droopy crest of bright yellow feathers. They come from New Zealand. They weigh about 6 to 10 pounds

Galapagos Penguins

Galapagos penguins live in the  Galapagos  Island  just south of the  equator. Galapagos   penguins    are  about  20  inchs  tall. They  weigh   about 4 to 5 pounds. Galapagos  penguins  eat  a variety of  fish  and  squid. Galapagos penguins have black  wings  and backs and white bellies.

Gentoo Penguins
Gentoo penguins come from the sub Antarctic islands. They are 32 inches tall and weigh 10 to 9 pounds they also can lay two eggs at a time. Gentoos are the third largest penguins in the world well maybe not. They have a white patch over their eye there beak is red.There is a royal gentoo they have a white belly they are a brushtail penguin and they have orange feet. They have a predator the seal. One parent goes fishing the other stays in the nest. It eats fish squid and krill. Every Gentoo is funny thats why I chose to do the gentoo penguin so thats why I did it. Humbolt Penguins

Humbolt penguins come from Peru.   They   are   about  24   inches tall   and   they  weigh   about 10 pounds.  It   is   warm  in Peru   so the Humbolt Penguins  live  in  the   sand  on  the beach not on ice or snow.  They  are  black  and white with white stripes

King Penguins

The king penguin is the second largest penguin. The king penguin has orange ear patches that are a closed tear drop shape. Adults are about 40 inches. Once the egg is laid the male will care for it. Macaroni Penguins

Macaroni Penguins live on Antactica. They are 28 inchs tall. Macaroni Penguins mostly eat krill with small amounts of squid. They have yellow and black feathers on the top of their head that looks like hair. They build a crude nest by scraping a shallow hole in mud or gravel among rocks.

Magellanic Penguins

Magellanic penguins come from coastal areas of Chile Argentina and the Faikland Islands. They have two black chest bands. They are the largest of warm weather penguins. They are 28 inches. They weigh 10 to 15 pounds. They have black feet and they dig burrows in the sand and clay.

Rockhopper Penguins

Rockhoppers are about 18 to 20 inches tall. Rockhoppers have a droopy black and yellow crest. They have a bright red-orange bill and red eyes. They live on the sub-Antarctic islands. They eat fish squid and krill.

Royal Penguins

Royal penguins live in the Macquarie Islands. The crest of the royal penguin is orange. The royal penguin is about 28 inches tall. 2 eggs are laid but only 1 incubated by both parents. There is a thick orange stripe on the forehead. The crest hangs down the sides long and drooping. The Royal penguin lives with the Royal Gentoo penguin.

SNARES PENGUINS

The Snares penguin comes from New Zealand.
The Snares penguin stands 40 cm tall. It weighs around 3 kilograms. There are 30,000 breeding pairs. Two eggs are laid but only one chick survives.

YELLOW-EYED PENGUINS

Yellow-eyes penguins come from New Zealand’s Stewart Idsland. The yellow-eyed penguin is the third largest penguin. The yellow-eyed stands to 22 to 31”. Its name comes from the yellow-orange cat-like eyes. The yellow-eyed is the rarest of all the penguins.
